I was awarded the contract to restore the interior and exterior of the historic Hoover Porter mansion, founder of porter paints, for my ability to perform all task involved with the restoration without hiring any sub-contractors. The project included removing all old wallpaper troughout, repairing plaster ceilings and walls, refinishing all the woodwork,refinishing the hardwood floors and staircases,repairing window weights, restore all brass fixtures and hardware and the application of over a thousand rolls of paper. The project took over 14 months to complete with the help of Lena, my wife and wallpaper assistant and five master painters I recruited, whom all began working with me 25 years ago under Jim Caple Painting. I walked away from the finished project prouder than any other project I had contracted in my 12 years in business. I began serving my community in 1997. I was motivated to start my own business when the contractor whom I served a 2 year apprenticeship under and 11 years as a painter / foreman retired after 45 years of service. I began to relize the decline of master painters and contractors dedicated to preserving our craftsmanship, due to the new housing boom of the late 80's and 90's our craft began to lose the value of quality for production in quanity. My service committed to a high quality painting and home improvements for live in residents of older homes in the Highlands, Crescent Hill and Old Louisville areas. I contiue to take pride in teaching traditional training of master painters and growing into an elite group of local contractors who specialize in restoration projects of older homes.
